Farm Tours
Experience the charm of rural life with a farm tour at Ralph Ranch. Come along and meet our adorable Highlands, Miniature Highlands, Valais Blacknose sheep, and Damara sheep. You’ll learn about our breeding practices, our approach to animal welfare, and the unique characteristics that make each breed so special.
Our tours are designed to give you a genuine, up-close experience with the animals and life on the farm. Set in a relaxed rural setting, you’ll have the chance to slow down, take in the scenery, capture plenty of photos, and create lasting memories. Whether you’re visiting as a couple, a family, or a small group, we offer a range of tour options to suit different group sizes while keeping the experience personal and unhurried.
Every tour at Ralph Ranch is personally run by me (Alanah), so what you experience here is genuine, hands-on farm life—not something scripted or commercialised. I’ve been breeding Highland cattle for over 10 years, and working closely with animals is truly at the heart of what I do.
From raising and training our Highland calves to working with sheep around the farm, everything you see is part of our everyday life. I love sharing that with visitors in a relaxed, down-to-earth way—whether it’s introducing you to the herd, talking through their personalities, or letting you experience a real connection with the animals.
This isn’t just a tour—it’s a chance to step into our world for a little while and experience the farm as it really is.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the difference between private and shared tours?
Private guided session; with the benefit that the tour can be tailored to your specific areas of interest. Suitable for the family as we tailor private groups and take things slower with smaller children present. Minimum two people (you may book a adult and toddler if you want a solo booking).
Shared group sessions; join others on our tour for a reduced rate. Maximum total of 8 people on the tour. Great option if you are travelling alone. These tours are 14+ for health and safety purposes.
Can we bring our baby?
We have added babies as a free bookable option on select tours where it is suitable for you to bring them. Babies will have to be 'worn' or securely held, no prams or allowing babies to craw once in the tour area. We will give you additional health and safety guidelines on arrival.
Do we have to book?
Yes, we can only run one tour at a time so to save disappointment we require bookings. We also bring the cows into our "tour paddock" and set them up for health and safety purposes, so please call ahead even if it says we have availability ("call to book").
